"The landscaping around the ‘Dish’ element, which is a part of the educational centre 'Planet Hlinsko', has just been completed. By running around the circumference inside the dish, children can simulate and experience the effects of centrifugal force.
The entire geometry of the piece is made up of 18 identical parts. These were printed in our workshop and then transported to the site, where they were assembled. We used a technique called ‘non-planar slicing’ during the printing process.
To finish and protect the installation, the pieces have been coated with a plastic protective and hydrophobic layer, and the interior surface is further lined with a rubberized tartan coating.
This is one of our largest public space projects to date. The sculptor Marek Rejent originally approached us with the idea of creating the dish using 3D concrete printing (3DCP), as casting it in a traditional formwork concrete wouldn’t be cost-effective.
We were more than happy to bring his vision to life. The photos capture the entire manufacturing process and the assembly itself, along with a link to a short video from the installation."
"Marek Rejent got in touch with us to ask if we could create it using 3D concrete printing (3DCP). We were excited to take on the challenge and make it happen."
